J Marie’s Gumbo House garners consistent praise for its flavorful, well-seasoned dishes that celebrate authentic Southern and Creole cuisine. Customers frequently highlight the tender, perfectly cooked proteins such as catfish, turkey wings, and blackened fish, alongside generous portions of spicy gumbo filled with shrimp and sausage. Sides like cornbread, mac and cheese, and sweet potatoes are noted for their comforting, rich flavors. The restaurant is also commended for reliable and efficient service, reasonable pricing, and a welcoming atmosphere that supports the local community. Some diners mention the bold spice levels, which add complexity but may be intense for those with milder tastes. Overall, J Marie’s is recognized as a satisfying and authentic destination for hearty Southern fare.

Stellar food from this efficient to-go spot.Catfish is so well seasoned, it's complex and savory and perfectly cooked, flaky and delicate. Gumbo is generously full of shrimp and sausage - it's boldly spicy, which balances great with a side of sweet and fluffy cornbread. Mac and cheese is classic comfort food. Sweet potatoes are sinfully syrup, but surely worth every calorie.

When I tell you the goods was/is delicious. Turkey wing so tender you can’t pick it up! Everything well seasoned. Will definitely be back and recommend that you try it for yourself. Oh and the banana was tasty also.

Food is so good. Greens are so delicious, well seasoned and spicy. Everything is pretty seasoned. The corn bread is cake like which is the bomb. Service is amazing, our order has never been wrong even with it being a somewhat large order. Pricing is very reasonable and nice portions. Pictured: Monster Turkey Wing w/ 2 side and the cornbread comes with it.

SUPPORT BLACK OWNED RESTAURANTS !!!DELISH ! DELISH ! DELISH ! Baby I just tore my plate up. Worth the wait (which didn’t take long) & money. The blackened catfish was too spicy for me but it was bomb so I had a water bottle to balance it out lol. The shrimp and rice were perfect. Cornbread and yamz fire. Peach cobbler amazing. Will be back for more and I am bringing the fam.

This place has the best gumbo we've ever had. Tried 6 different places in New Orleans and nothing compares to the flavor or perfect Cajun heat. The chili was fire and the cornbread was mouthwaterring.10/10 recommend.
